Position Summary

The Executive Director, Faculty Affairs Administration is responsible for the development and administration of faculty policy, HR, governance, and compliance processes across the Tandon School of Engineering.  Reporting to the Senior Vice Dean and Vice Dean of Faculty Affairs, this role serves as the senior administrative authority on academic personnel policy and faculty administrative systems, functioning as the institutional owner of the frameworks and processes that govern faculty employment and conduct across all faculty populations.  The Executive Director works in the Office of the Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs in close coordination with central University offices, and departmental leadership in close coordination with the Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs, central University offices, and departmental leadership to ensure that faculty affairs functions are managed with integrity, consistency, and institutional sophistication. This is a highly visible leadership role requiring seasoned judgment, deep expertise in academic administration, and the ability to navigate complex, sensitive matters at the highest levels of the institution.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree business, organizational psychology, human resources, or related field

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related area

Required Experience:
7+ years experience supporting faculty development and training, project management, faculty affairs, coaching/managing staff and/or administrative process and/or projects. Must include experience in an academic institution with background and knowledge in development, implementation, and administration of academic policies, procedures, and programs. Must include experience planning, implementing, and managing budgets, operations, and staff.

Preferred Experience:
10+ years experience supporting faculty development and training, project management, faculty affairs, coaching/managing staff and/or administrative process and/or projects.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated planning, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and spoken communication skills. Ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures, persuade and negotiate with all levels of faculty and administration, and to interact effectively with individuals at all levels. MS Word, Excel & PowperPoint.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
A combination of focus, creativity and structured thinking. Knowledge of business workflow management and dashboarding systems (Tableau, Salesforce, Atlassian Jira, or equivalent). Workday a plus.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $180,000.00 to USD $220,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
