Position Summary

Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Department Administrator to join the Department of Politics. This individual will support the operations of academic administration and advising in collaboration with program and department leadership. Oversee front-of-house operations; supervise and delegate tasks to student employees. Organize and manage special events and departmental programming and activities; manage budgets and support faculty research account management. Assist the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) with all administrative, operational, and fiscal matters. Support undergraduate advising. Assist with curriculum planning, course scheduling, and registration.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
3+ years relevant experience. Must include experience with academic operations, advising on program or service options, and planning various activities and events.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years in a Higher Education environment, advising students at a college or university level.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to engage with individuals at all levels on providing academic and program advice and solutions. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
