Position Summary

The Laboratory Manager will ensure safety and compliance across MakerSpace facilities, the MakerGarage and VIP team workspaces, while also supporting the MakerSpace's partnerships with academic programs and departments, such with the General Engineering program at Tandon. Working closely with students, staff, and researchers, the Manager will promote safe use of equipment and materials and facilitate the timely completion of prototyping and fabrication projects.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Design, or related field

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related area

Required Experience:
3+ years in manufacturing with metal and wood (including MIG/TIG welding, lathes, saws, power tools), managing labs or maker spaces, supporting educational or project-based activities, supervision, and budget management or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Independent thinking, creativity, goal-oriented productivity, ability to implement best practices, proficiency with lab and maker tools (3D printers, CNC machines, electronics), excellent communication and training skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,500.00 to USD $104,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
