Position Summary

The Assistant Director develops, implements, and evaluates programs and initiatives that engage NYU students, faculty, staff, and alums in exploring and deepening their understanding of LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning) communities. Leads leadership development and student engagement efforts; advises LGBTQ+ student organizations and cohorts; co-develops and facilitates educational programs and trainings; and oversees communications and marketing efforts (e.g., social media, newsletters, website, and graphic design). Serve as a resource and advocate for students and support the day-to-day operations of the LGBTQ+ Center in the Director’s absence. Collaborates across the Division of University Life and with key stakeholders in administrative and academic units to advance programs, events, education, communications, and resource development initiatives.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, Social Sciences, Counseling, or Women/Gender/Sexuality Studies, or a related field.

Required Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience working with students, faculty, and administrators in a higher education setting Relevant experience developing and implementing leadership initiatives, programs and events, facilitating training and workshops, advising student organizations, supervising student staff, and budget management.

Preferred Experience:
1+ years of strong experience developing educational curricula and leadership development programs. Experience with program assessment and evaluation. Graphic design, social media, and marketing experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of current trends and needs of LGBTQ+ communities, specifically within a higher education context. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement programs and initiatives that center LGBTQ+ experiences and communities. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, facilitation, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Technical ability to execute graphic design (e.g., Adobe Suite), web design, and social media. Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $85,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
