Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Department Administrator to join the Department of French Literature, Thought and Culture. This individual will oversee departmental operations and staff, and provide administrative support for the department. Provide input and recommendations to advise the Chairperson. Administer budgets; coordinate faculty recruitment and advancement; oversee academic staffing; ensure the Department runs smoothly and orderly; assist faculty, students and staff with their administrative needs; supervise logistics for departmental events; coordinate external visitors' visits.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
3+ years relevant administrative experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience supervising departmental operations and staff and administering budgets.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in higher education or non-profit environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to provide advice, problem solve, and interact with individuals at all levels. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills. Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Fluency in French strongly preferred.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000 to USD $75,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
