Position Summary

Oversees time-sensitive service delivery and operations across the Institute of Fine Arts’ two specialized libraries, the Stephen Chan Library of Fine Arts and Conservation Center Library, with a myriad of staffing types and levels. Supports and collaborates with the Head of the Institute of Fine Arts Library and the Librarian for Research Services to ensure an exceptional user experience and efficient workflows. Provides supervisory guidance, manages physical collections, supports financial tracking, and assists in cross-functional initiatives that enhance access to library resources for a broad academic and research community.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree Library and Information Science (MLIS)

Required Experience:
2+ years relevant experience in academic or research library settings, including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to manage library operations and prioritize multiple ongoing responsibilities. Strong understanding of library systems and procedures, especially circulation, acquisitions, and collection maintenance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to independently execute complex tasks while maintaining service quality. Customer service orientation with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve user issues. Proven capacity to lead student staff and clerical employees effectively. Flexibility and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced academic environment. Requires lifting and moving objects such as book carts, boxes, and furniture. This role involves standing, bending, and reaching during daily operations. Frequent user interaction (in-person and virtual). Occasional travel to other NYU library locations as required

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with library software systems such as Ex Libris products, including Alma, Springshare products, including LibGuides and LibAnswers, or similar. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and standard productivity tools. Comfortable working across both Windows and macOS platforms.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $72,000.00 to USD $88,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
