Position Summary

The Academic and Program Administrator works with department leadership and University colleagues to ensure that the Office of Student-Athlete Excellence (OSAE) achieves its mission of providing quality programs and services for the NYU Department of Athletics in the areas of academic support, academic-based eligibility compliance, student-athlete development, and academic awards and honors. This role administers an array of academic programs, services; manages the organization and presentation of reports and presentations on student-athlete caseloads, administers key facets of the Violet Leadership Academy and related student-athlete development initiatives, and partners on athletic recruitment efforts. The incumbent will also oversee content and updates for the student-athlete handbook and resource guide and NYU Athletics coaching and administrators resource guide.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in education, psychology, counseling, sociology, sport management, social work.

Required Experience:
2+ years of experience in providing academic support services (for students at the college or university level), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include experience counseling, developing and running student programming and logistics.

Preferred Experience:
2+ years Experience working directly with student-athlete leadership programming, student-athlete counseling and/or advisement in an NCAA Division I, II, or III institution, experience with NCAA academic certification processes and a working knowledge of NCAA eligibility bylaws.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated writing ability. Proficiency using word-processing, spreadsheets, utilizing collaborative technologies and implementing new technologies to streamline administrative processes. Ability to advise and provide solutions to student problems. Ability to supervise undergraduate student staff.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience using Google apps for education, PeopleSoft, and Starfish proven success implementing effective email marketing and social media promotion for events, services and announcements, experience with supervision and development of student staff. General knowledge of NCAA Division III athletics eligibility legislation.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $79,200.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
