Arts & Science is seeking an experienced Department Manager to join the Environmental Studies team. Reporting to the Chair, the Department Manager leads the management of overall departmental operations, processes, and strategic planning. Serve as a main resource to staff, faculty, and researchers on policy and procedure. Develop and present innovative improvement plans to support workflow efficiency and growth. Oversee and approve departmental budget and post-award grant expenses and workflows. Improve tracking and management of department budget and research portfolios. Support academic administration, faculty processes, and department events. Supervise staff.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or related field
Required Experience:
3+ years relevant administrative experience, including experience supervising departmental operations, staff and administering budgets
Preferred Experience:
5+ years of middle-to-upper level academic administrative experience, particularly budgets administration (dept/grants), faculty and research staff hiring and payroll, liaising with faculty and administration, and faculty tenure/promotion.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to advise, solve problems, and interact with individuals at all levels. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills. Demonstrated proficiency at least at intermediate level with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with the post-award grant processes, compliance, and related activities. Advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and database development and management
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $95,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
