Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions serves as a subject matter expert on NYU Shanghai, representing the campus to prospective students, families, and counselors across North America and, in some cases, internationally. This role supports priority Shanghai-based events such as Candidate Weekends and Admitted Student Weekends, requiring extended periods of time on campus. Based in New York, the position leads recruitment and yield activities throughout the U.S., including school visits, counselor engagement, in-person events, and admitted student programming. The role also contributes to application evaluation and ensures that NYU Shanghai’s needs are represented across the global admissions network. By maintaining a dedicated focus on North America and bridging the Shanghai and New York teams, this position advances institutional enrollment priorities and strengthens NYU Shanghai’s visibility in key markets. This role requires flexibility to regularly work evenings and weekends in order to align with Shanghai-based time zones and support global admissions priorities.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
3+ years direct university admission experience or college counseling experience in a high school setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills; Ability to represent and market NYU Shanghai independently; Familiarity with online application review systems; ability to review a high volume of applications accurately; Commitment to extensive travel, including evenings and weekends; Ability to manage data with accuracy, adhere to privacy protocols, and comply with institutional standards.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with international admissions or working with diverse student populations; Familiarity with the U.S. and Chinese secondary education landscapes.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $80,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
