Arts & Science is seeking a talented Assistant Director to join the Dean's Office within Liberal Studies. Under the direction of the Director of Special Initiatives, the Assistant Director of Special Projects plays a significant role increasing and maintaining engagement of a wide range of Liberal Studies (LS) community members and collaborators through Dean’s Office events and programming. The Assistant Director is responsible for supervising staff support for signature LS events and initiatives, academic series, collaborative programming, and participation in University-wide initiatives. These initiatives include outreach and support for admissions and yield events as well as alumni outreach and programming. The Assistant Director also provides administrative support for the LS Parents’ Circle and other donor programming. The Assistant Director works closely with the NYU event planners and platforms and the LS Fiscal Affairs and Administration office, working with approved external vendors and campus-based vendors, invited speakers, and other Dean’s Office finance related activities.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree or interest in gaining advanced credentials
Required Experience:
5+ years years progressively responsible experience planning and implementing complex events, program development, and collaboration strategies.
Preferred Experience:
Related experience in an academic institution
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be persuasive and collaborative with excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Experience with social media. Shows tact, discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with individuals at all levels in a multi-constituency environment

People skills, initiative, creativity, and the ability to think outside of the box in coming up with effective solutions. Professionalism and confidentiality with all levels of employees and outside groups. Commitment to building inclusive communities. Familiarity with scheduling software, event management, audio-visual equipment.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $72,800.00 to USD $83,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
