Position Summary

The Assistant Vice President for Compliance & Support Services reports directly to the Vice President for Global Campus Safety. Primary responsibilities include leading and directing a team that supports the NYU community through incident review and victim services, lost and found, internal affairs, ID and card center, records, and compliance. The AVP, Compliance & Support Services, in consultation with HR business partners, recruits, selects, and integrates new uniformed personnel for Campus Safety. The AVP, Compliance & Support Services, will provide leadership, direction, and feedback to create a fully engaged, high-performing workforce.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
10+ years relevant progressive leadership and management experience in a survivor advocacy, or police and/or private protection environment with responsibility for support services, higher education compliance, and records management systems, behavioral intervention/threat assessment with at least 3 years senior-level management experience. Experience in a university setting is required. Experience in Investigations, advocacy, and Crime Prevention

Preferred Experience:
Military or Law enforcement experience preferred. Experience in higher education. Familiarity with Access Control and Security Camera systems. Experience working in other cultures and fluency in a language other than English is a strong preference.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Skilled at dealing with daily and varied crises and sensitive incidents, and must be able to synchronize the efforts of the units effectively. Requires close alignment with the Vice President for Global Campus Safety's goals to accurately and efficiently represent the Department in their absence. Excellent managerial, verbal, analytical, interpersonal, logical, and problem-solving skills. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work and communicate effectively across a range of cultures. Strong writing and research skills. Ability to analytically assess the effectiveness of a variety of potential solutions to find the best combination of effectiveness toward goals, reliability of performance, and financial effectiveness. Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidences are essential. Strong working knowledge of the Google suite. High degree of comfort in public speaking. Experience supervising and leading large teams and building consensus among colleagues. Cultural awareness and sensitivity, diplomacy, and the ability to engage a variety of work approaches to fit different cultural contexts—domestic and international travel required. Scheduled office hours are subject to adjustment as needed to accommodate other time zones. Outstanding customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with various levels of faculty, staff, students, and outside agencies. Strong writing and analytical skills, excellent planning and organizational skills. Exceptional managerial, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of security-related electronic equipment.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be well-versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $170,000.00 to USD $220,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
