The Associate Director of Science, Technology, Arts, and Creativity (STAC) develops and manages the programs and daily operations of Gallatin’s Maker Space (746-STAC). Key responsibilities include designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that integrate science, technology, arts, and the humanities. Collaborating with faculty and staff across departments to create interdisciplinary initiatives. While grounded in science, the role also seeks to connect Maker Space resources to non-STEM courses and research by faculty and students. Oversee day-to-day operations of STAC, ensuring compliance with School and University safety regulations, and foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students. Organize events related to the STAC program, residencies, and experiential learning opportunities. Hire, supervise, and train student STAC staff to support collaborative and experiential learning. Promote inclusive communities at Gallatin, focusing on the integration of emerging scientific and technological practices with Gallatin’s strengths in interdisciplinary, practice-based, and creative work. And oversees the scientific needs and mission of the Gallatin Wetlab on Governors Island.
Required Education:
Master's Degree Master’s Level degree in an Interdisciplinary science field
Preferred Education:
Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary STEM field preferred.
Required Experience:
5+ years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
3+ years Experience managing maker spaces, and student technical instructors working with interdisciplinary and experiential learning teams. Experience developing experiential learning programs that foster community and collaboration across diverse groups. Able to create and facilitate workshops relevant to skill building in a makerspace environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expertise across the STEM/humanities/art/entrepreneurship boundary. Experience with a wide variety of fabrication skills, including 3d printing, sewing, electronics, woodworking, and other design and prototyping equipment. Highly collaborative in a team environment. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a high attention-to-detail.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficient in MS Office Applications, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and other common design software and tools. Experience in data analytics and data visualization a plus.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $80,000.00 to USD $100,000.00.
