Position Summary

The skilled culinary professional in The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World will run the institute's academic year (September - May) lunch service. Ensure quality control and health standards. Project catering expenditures; manage all related purchases. Communicate effectively with ISAW's Food Service Assistant, building maintenance, and administrative staff regarding both day-to-day operations and specific problem solving.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:
3+ years experience running a kitchen in a restaurant or catering service environment, including experience planning menus, purchasing groceries, and cooking meals on a set schedule and budget; supervisory experience

Preferred Experience:
3+ years experience running a kitchen preferably for groups of 30 or more

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
New York City Health Certification. Demonstrated knowledge of menu planning, procurement, and meal preparation for large groups. Able to produce a meal within an established budget. Exceptional organizational and time management skills with regards to required duties. Must be able to communicate effectively but with collegiality about task status and problem areas. Capable of maintaining consistent job performance despite problems or obstacles in day-to-day operations. Basic computer skills also required, in order to facilitate online grocery ordering.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate salary range for this position is USD $45.544 to USD $55.544. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
