Position Summary

Manage event production for programming at the Iris Cantor Theatre, including multidisciplinary presentations for resident users, university partner organizations, university affiliates, and non-university rentals. Meet with internal and external clients with the Theater Operations Manager to assess production needs and advise on space usage. Consult with clients throughout the planning process. Attend events to ensure they run smoothly and provide resolutions to difficulties. Ensure advance communication, scheduling, and technical staffing for all events. Provide technical direction and advice as needed. Act in the absence of the Theater Operations Manager when required. Oversee in-house technical department heads and freelance technical staff.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
5+ years relevant experience with theatrical productions, stage management, and staff supervision or an equivalent combination. Must include experience working with a wide range of event producing abilities and administering budgets.

Preferred Experience:
7+ years Experience as a production manager or technical director for a university performing arts center or other large, multipurpose facility. Experience in student instruction at the secondary level.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent planning, organization, interpersonal, and communication skills. Knowledge of technical theater production elements including electrical, audio, carpentry, rigging, and projection. Ability to problem solve under pressure, manage large crews on schedule and within budget, and oversee the execution of a variety of performing arts events.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Professional member in theatrical trade organization (USITT, IATSE, AEA, USA, etc.) Established New York City theatrical contacts.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $80,000.00 to USD $100,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
