The Practicum Coordinator (PC) assists the Practicum Department to coordinate the placement of students in community partner-based internships to fulfill the requirements for Practicum instruction courses. The Practicum Coordinator works closely with community partners to identify placement opportunities that align with both CSWE accreditation standards and NYU Silver School of Social Work program requirements and resolve issues. The PC also guides the student through the matching process to an assignment that supports their learning and development. This appointment is for one initial year with subsequent renewal.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree MSW; LMSW strongly preferred
Required Experience:
3+ years of related experience.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years Of related experience, including experience in Practicum Instruction and/or experience as a Faculty advisor in social work education.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Detail-oriented, able to multitask, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as policy interpretation and implementation skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and communication skills (creative, patient, tactful, and understanding of antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion). Knowledge of the social work profession and practice. Background in one or more of these areas of practice is preferred: macro social work practice (community organizing, research, policy, program development, advocacy, etc.); carceral social work; social work & the law; and unhoused populations.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $76,500.00 to USD $85,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
