University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.
The Assistant Director, Data Management and Strategy will provide analytical, operational, and technical support for UDAR’s various data points. Ensure data integrity and provide related quality assurance to facilitate the production and review of accounts feeding into fundraising database and related systems. Review, evaluate, and recommend changes to policies and procedures regarding databases and applications to improve system efficiency, database performance, and customer service. Perform data validation, cleansing, and import activities. Maintain schedules for routine data integrity checks. Resolve operational data issues and ensure compliance with established protocols. Partner with the Data Management Team in the creation and maintenance of documentation for data processes and workflow improvements. Provide technical training, guidance, and support to staff, ensuring smooth execution of data workflows. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that data is accurate, timely, and actionable for UDAR’s fundraising and engagement initiatives.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
5+ years of database and significant applications programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Experience:
5+ years experience in an academic or non-profit setting
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Blackbaud CRM)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, and basic technical troubleshooting skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong data analytical skills with the ability to reconcile multiple data points
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with SQL query writing and API platforms
Basic knowledge of project management principles
Familiarity with relational databases and data reporting tools
Experience analyzing, gathering, and defining requirements and designing, developing and delivering complete lifecycle solutions
Ability to work independently and in a team or project-oriented environment
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $100,000.00 to USD $120,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
