Position Summary

Advise and counsel a significant cohort of students, serving as the primary advisor for assigned annual caseload, and a support and resource person throughout their undergraduate career. Conduct student advisement for a series of complex issues such as financial need, grades, attendance, plagiarism, leave of absence requests, AWOL status, readmission etc. Audit degree progress reports of all advisees who are candidates for January, May and September graduation. Implement new and customized student life community engagement initiatives and events.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent theatre or a related field. Advanced degree in higher education administration or related field. Familiarity with standards, practices, and techniques of professional theatre training. Training in data collection and statistical analysis.

Required Experience:
3+ years advising students or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience developing and maintaining computer databases (such as MS Access or Filemaker Pro).

Preferred Experience:
3+ years Prior experience in an academic environment. Experience in community engagement initiatives.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to assess appropriate student theatre training approaches. Ability to collaborate, mediate and negotiate with diverse audience. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of standard office software including PowerPoint and online and traditional information databases. Knowledge on working with Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, Accessibility and Equity communications/concerns.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with ALBERT, UDW+, Filemaker, and Google Apps for Education.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $79,200.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
