Position Summary

The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Financial Strategy and Analytics serves as a key member of the financial leadership team, providing strategic vision, leadership, and operational support to advance the mission and goals of New York University. Lead critical financial initiatives, foster a culture of collaboration and efficiency, and support the development and execution of innovative strategies that ensure the financial health and sustainability of the university. Oversee enterprise-wide financial analysis, spearhead strategic forecasting, and architect high-impact solutions to propel the University’s long-term growth, financial sustainability, and operational excellence. Partner with leaders from academic and administrative units, fostering a data-driven culture that empowers informed decisions at all levels. Foster strong relationships across departments to ensure transparency, trust, and alignment in financial decision-making. Attend meetings with the Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President to provide and ensure follow up on strategic matters under discussion. With the CFO, co-directs and facilitates strategic projects in partnership with the schools and units across the university. This role requires exceptional analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills, as well as a deep commitment to the values and mission of a global academic institution.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Public Administration or related field

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related field.

Required Experience:
10+ years Related responsible experience, including education leadership experience, with a strong preference for extensive expertise in leading and managing Financial Planning and Analytics teams and projects. Extensive experience collaborating with senior leaders, including academic deans and administrative vice presidents, to develop and implement strategic initiatives, drive organizational goals, and foster effective cross-departmental communication. Experience in higher education and familiarity with private and/or public university trends as well as an awareness of the health care industry. Experience managing multiple, large-scale transformation initiatives, building consensus with diverse stakeholders, and connecting key decision points with organizational goals. Experience providing confidential counsel and management support to a high-level executive, overseeing commitments, and ensuring priorities are strategically managed and logistics are efficiently addressed in a highly dynamic, complex environment.

Preferred Experience:
10+ years Experience working within an academic or research environment, management a center or institute.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to analyze complex information or problems in an objective and methodical manner and derive logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities and selecting appropriate courses of action. Must have the ability to apply wise judgment and political acumen to attentively discern and reflect perspectives, as appropriate, in the advice given and in communications prepared. Candidate must possess highly developed organizational and time management skills to effectively handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills. Must have interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external constituents in a diverse community. Candidate must have strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think collaboratively, strategically, and creatively. Must possess the ability to achieve goals through diplomatically promoting collaboration; team building and working cooperatively is essential.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $325,000.00 to USD $375,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
