Position Summary

Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director to join Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies. The Assistant Director manages fundraising activities, finances and budget for the Center. Establish and maintain affiliations with outside cultural and academic organizations and individuals to solicit participation. Oversee and develop the Center’s Title VI and other education and outreach programs, including directing the planning and administration of events and activities. Assist the director with long-term program planning, academic program planning, research workshops, luncheons and seminars. Oversee the Center's programming including: lectures, film series, art exhibitions, etc. Manage relationships with other organizations to foster partnerships on joint projects, faculty and student exchange, etc. Direct staff administrative operations including: developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing budgets, and supervising and managing staff.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Master's Degree or equivalent in Near Eastern Studies or related academic field.

Required Experience:
5+ years related work experience including fund raising, program development, higher education administration.

Preferred Experience:
Relevant work experience in an academic and/or non-profit environment

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and supervisory skills. Development, fund-raising and financial management experience. Deep knowledge and understanding of the Middle East. Ability to work with people of various backgrounds.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Middle Eastern languages a plus (especially Arabic, Turkish, Persian).

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $85,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
