Position Summary

This position develops and implements strategic initiatives and independently oversees activities for NYU Steinhardt’s Writing Center. Independently manage several key ongoing projects, including the writing support scheduling system, oversight and coordination of one-on-one consultations, workshops, class visits, and writing resources for all 11 departments in the School. This individual will hire, supervise, and manage part-time Steinhardt Writing Center staff.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Doctoral Degree In Writing, English, Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or related discipline

Required Experience:
5+ years Relevant professional experience. Must include experience with writing, editing, and managing academic writing and career-focused documents; working with a population diverse in age and status, including students, faculty, staff, deans, and vendors. Experience initiating change.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years Experience working and studying in an individualized, interdisciplinary academic environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Expertise in multilingual writing pedagogy, tutoring strategies, and writing assessment practices. Experience teaching academic writing to undergraduate and graduate students. A commitment to supporting students from varied academic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students to integrate writing resources into academic and co-curricular contexts. Proficiency with writing center technologies and online platforms for tutoring, workshops, and resource delivery. High level of writing and comprehension skills and knowledge. Ability to solve problems and interact with individuals at all levels and the ability to manage a wide range of duties and assignments. Ability to conceive, develop, and administer a variety of Writing support programs and activities for 15 to 50 people. Ability to supervise student Writing consultants and graduate students.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of Google applications (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides).

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $110,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
