The NYU School of Professional Studies is seeking a Senior Learning Designer to collaborate with faculty on the development and implementation of evidence-based teaching strategies to support the educational goals of the faculty and school. This role mentors contractors, consultants, and student workers on the departmental processes as needed and as assigned. They collaborate with the Director of Operations and Learning and support the Executive Director on teaching support services, programs, and other teaching-related priorities. They may also coordinate services with other NYU instructional support units.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field around education and technology
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a relevant field around education and technology or Doctoral Degree in a relevant field around education and technology
Required Experience:
5+ years related professional work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must include experience in the design and development of innovative curriculum design in higher education; developing and delivering pedagogy workshops in a variety of modalities; analyzing, validating, and presenting data in multiple settings; conducting individual faculty consultations, reviewing syllabus design and teaching practices, and offering guidance on evidence-based strategies to support teaching redesign; presenting, discussing and applying educational theory into practice; and working with faculty across NYU SPS academic units.
Preferred Experience:
5+ years University-level teaching and professional experience with educational technology. and 1+ years Supervising and mentoring student employees
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, evidence-based Instructional Design models & educational pedagogy, and innovative pedagogical best-practices. Demonstrated experience working with curriculum, assessment, and measurable learning outcomes. Demonstrated effectiveness in designing, developing, and delivering courses in higher education. Knowledge of the use of course management systems. Ability to convey the affordances of technology in education. Experience working independently as well as cooperatively with colleagues and clients. Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and team building skills. Demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities and initiatives.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of pedagogical theories and practice, assessment theories and strategies as well as the ways in which they have been implemented in education.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $110,000.00 to USD $130,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
