Position Summary

University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.

 

As a senior leader on the Alumni Relations team, this position will serve as the strategic visionary behind the expanding communication and engagement needs of NYU’s various constituencies. Create, lead, and direct a comprehensive content and multi-platform communications strategy and direct marketing plan that will enhance the reputation of UDAR and NYU. Build upon current successes and lead the team in implementing creative and innovative methods to engage and inspire its diverse constituent base. Build out the department to complement and support the full spectrum of engagement and development work at NYU. Develop a comprehensive communications and direct marketing strategic plan with a particular focus on the constituent and donor user experience.

 

Examine and recommend processes designed to make the entire experience of engaging with NYU better for all constituents, from communications to giving methods to receipts and notifications to stewardship strategies and follow-up. Partner with UDAR leadership and key campus partners to ensure consistency and clarity of all branding and communications materials aligned with University initiatives and priorities. Build systems of learning, benchmarking, and optimization with a specific focus on campaign readiness. In partnership with the UDAR Business Intelligence team and the Vice President of Campaigns, the selected candidate will create and manage a full suite of engagement reporting, dashboards, metrics and analyses, to ensure sustained momentum and growth. Lead a team aligned with strategic outreach and fundraising efforts building a pipeline within - and in support of – inclusive philanthropy. This will build upon critical partnerships with the Office of Global Inclusion.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
10+ years relevant experience or a combination of experience and education

Experience in fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship of individual donors

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of digital, social media, and mobile platforms

Knowledge of managing content and content management systems (CMS)

Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills

Ability to identify news and feature ideas

Familiarity with operations of media companies including newspaper, magazine, radio, and television businesses

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with desktop publishing software (i.e., Front Page and Quark Express)

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $255,000.00 to USD $305,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
