Position Summary

The Social Responsibility Manager ensures that Procurement & Payables activities at NYU are conducted in a manner that aligns with social and environmental best practices, ensuring governance and transparency in key social and environmental business areas. Develop a comprehensive strategy for social responsibility and manage all aspects of the program, leveraging both internal and external best practices. Lead the coordination of diverse, socially, and environmentally responsible sourcing, including engagement of historically underutilized businesses, helping to ensure that NYU does business responsibly. Partnering with the Office of Global Inclusion, the Office of Sustainability, and the Stern Center for Sustainable Business (CSB), monitor and report on procurement spend with diverse and local businesses, support end-user requirements, focus on improving procurement social responsibility efforts, and promote the University's brand in the community. Monitor environmental impacts, particularly Scope 3 decarbonization goals to align with the university's broader decarbonization commitment. Conduct business community outreach and relationship building with both the University and local diverse business advocacy organizations. This role has a hybrid work schedule: Two days on-site and three days remote per week.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree Supply chain, Business, Public Administration or a related field

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, other business related field, or Engineering and/or Procurement, Supply Chain, and /or Project Management or Master's Degree MBA or other advanced degree in a related field

Required Experience:
5+ years experience managing a Social Responsibility, Supplier Diversity, and/or Sustainability program or equivalent. Must have equivalent experience in procurement, managing competitive bidding processes, contracted service delivery, vendor relations, and client satisfaction. Experience with lifecycle cost assessment, cost-benefit analysis, and/or similar metrics and their use in demonstrating the value proposition for sustainability. Experience with implementing and leveraging Supplier Diversity Databases/Directories. Experience with ESG and CSR rating and reporting systems such as GRI, GRESB, B Corp, and/or others. Previous experience with small businesses, diversity councils and diversity organizations, and/or sustainability councils and organizations.

Preferred Experience:
7+ years of related experience. Experience with Procurement is highly preferred. Strong experience with sustainability evaluation rating systems such as LEED, WELL, Fitwell, BIFMA, EPDs, HPDs, EPEAT, ENERGY STAR, Green Seal, FSC, and/or others.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of Social Responsibility, Supplier Diversity, and Sustainability programs. Possesses the skill to advocate for and influence change in business decisions with respect to supplier diversity utilization. Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders. Must be adaptable. Strong knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations that apply to the provisions and limitations of a Supplier Diversity Program. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and programs at a time and balance competing priorities. Knowledge of principles and practices of contract administration and procurement strategies. Knowledge of various contract types, proposal preparations, and cost and price analysis. Ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and recommend solutions. Ability to analyze data and draw relevant and appropriate conclusions. Demonstrated ability to develop data-driven business cases including demand forecasts, category trends, and accurate savings estimations. Ability to interpret data to inform decision-making. Consistency in the application of university and department policies and practices. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Proven methodology for benchmarking against higher education or industry Supplier Diversity program and Sustainability initiatives. Demonstrated ability to make effective business decisions, including the ability to apply logical thinking and exercise sound judgment. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite Products.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge and proficiency with the Jaggaer procurement system. Knowledge and proficiency with sustainability procurement reporting tools such as AASHE STARS or similar. Strong knowledge of Social Responsibility, Supplier Diversity, and Sustainability programs in a higher-education environment.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $110,000.00 to USD $130,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
