Position Summary

Subaward Specialist drafts outgoing subaward agreements and modifications, and customizes subaward agreements as necessary. Shepherd agreements through the subcontracting process, from initiation through close-out, liaising with internal and external parties as necessary. Complete annual subrecipient monitoring and risk assessments. Consult with faculty, the Office of Sponsored Programs, Research Finance Support, Schools and departmental administrative personnel regarding subaward related issues. Negotiate basic subaward related issues, work with Subwards Manager, Assistant Contract Officer and Contract Officer on more complex or difficult negotiations. The Subaward Specialist develops analyses and reports that ensure compliance with mandated requirements relative to subrecipient monitoring and makes recommendations for improvement as well as develops the communications and interfaces with subrecipients and internal auditors; submits certifications and reports findings. Also maintains subaward templates; maintains subaward policies and procedures; acts as backup for Subawards Manager as appropriate and necessary.

Qualifications

Required Education:
BA degree required.

Preferred Education:
BA degree required, preferably in the Liberal Arts.

Required Experience:
2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience providing a high level of customer service while operating in a busy environment. Experience in contract management preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Critical reading and writing skills essential. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Capacity to meet deadlines, prioritize, work under pressure, and understand and respond to the needs of a wide range of divergent interests is also necessary.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,582.39 to USD $104,600.69. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
