Position Summary

Supervise all aspects of the installation of temporary theatrical lighting, audio, and video for Undergraduate Drama performance productions; Oversee inventory, tracking, and maintenance of departmental and Electric Shop (E-Shop) equipment. Provide technical services for lighting, audio, and video to classes. Train and supervise student technicians in maintenance and preparation of audio/visual equipment. Coordinate and collaborate with the Production Office and the studio's Production Coordinators on all aspects of live audio, video, and lighting needs. Supervise and manage the E-Shop’s student staff and budget.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
3+ years of technical/supervisory experience in lighting or sound design and installation or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in communicating lighting or sound design or technology to a diverse audience.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong organizational, drafting, and rigging skills. Excellent communication skills as well as 'team building' ability. Well versed in the current standards and practices , both educational and professional, of Lighting and Sound Technology, Design, and Production. Computer literacy in Windows and Mac operating systems; Microsoft Office, Vectorworks Spotlight, Dante, Lightwright, ETC, control and dimming systems, and other relevant software and equipment competency requirements. Strong understanding of theatrical and audio equipment, practices and procedures is critical along with significant experience working on ETC dimming and control systems, Yamaha digital consoles, and extensive knowledge of electrical and industrial safety and audio network protocols.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience in audio system design and installation: ProTools, SFX, Q-Lab control systems. Video projection system design and installation.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
