Position Summary

Advise and counsel a significant cohort of students, serving as the primary advisor and a support and resource person throughout their undergraduate career. Conduct student advisement for a series of complex issues such as financial need, grades, attendance, plagiarism, leave of absence requests, AWOL status, readmission, etc. Audit degree progress reports of all advisees who are candidates for graduation. Coordinate departmental administrative processes as assigned. Audit degree progress reports of all advisees who are candidates for graduation. In coordination with the Student Services Director, sustain strategic relationships with school faculty, staff and university office to advocate for and resolve student issues.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in theatre or a related field. Advanced degree in higher education administration or a related field. Familiarity with standards, practices, and techniques of professional theatre training. Training in data collection and statistical analysis.

Required Experience:
1+ years of relevant experience advising students or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience maintaining computer spreadsheets and databases (such as Google Sheets, Excel and FileMaker Pro).

Preferred Experience:
2+ years Prior experience in an academic environment, in data collection and statistical analysis, and in program development and marketing.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to assess appropriate student theatre training approaches. Ability to collaborate, mediate and negotiate with a diverse audience. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of standard office software including Google Apps, Microsoft Office, and online and traditional information databases. Ability to assess appropriate student theatre training approaches. Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $58,500.00 to USD $70,400.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
