Position Summary

Incumbent will work for an Editor at NYU Press. Responsibilities will include screening and review of unsolicited manuscripts. Assist with review and promotions procedures. Prepare manuscripts for copyediting and transmittal. Draft catalog and jacket copy. Draft and produce routine communications for supervisor's review. Arrange meetings, travel, conferences, and special events. Train, assign and review work of casuals and/or student employees. Complete other clerical duties as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Experience:
2+ years 2 years' office experience including editorial experience.

Preferred Experience:
Experience working for a large University Press preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent communication and editing skills. Proficiency using intermediate word processing and spreadsheet applications. Moderate accurate keyboarding skills (40-59 words per minute).

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
MS Word, Excel and database systems experience preferred.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $33.327. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
