Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Academic Administration & Operations will report to the Chair, Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and play a critical role in overseeing and executing academic programs. Identify and implement improvements to streamline the delivery of B.S, M.S, and PhD programs, in collaboration with Program Directors, Associate Director and Department Chair. Orchestrate cyclical processes such as admissions, advisement, course scheduling, departmental lecture series, enrollment management, faculty annual reporting, faculty recruitment, new faculty on-boarding, records, and registration. Spearhead internal and external communications, develop social media and web strategies to effectively market programs, establish industry/professional relationships and networking opportunities, develop and implement new and existing special events--lecturers, panels, symposia--of interest to our faculty and student populations, and as a means of raising CBE’s outreach and profile.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related area

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related area

Required Experience:
5+ years experience overseeing a student services function, using databases to manage information, managing budgets and staff, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years Experience in student service management in higher education; advising students at the college or university level; planning and executing student support services and events.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High degree of initiative. Excellent organizational abilities. Ability to set priorities and to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent oral and written communications skills; excellent listening skills. Strong customer service orientation. Excellent problem-solving skills and knowledge of customer/student services best practices.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of student development and career development theories.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $105,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
