The Training and Compliance Specialist reporting to the NYU Director of Operations - IACUC-Animal Care and Use Program in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research is responsible for the development and implementation of the University’s formalized animal use training program. The Specialist coordinates regularly scheduled post-approval monitoring to ensure that any animal use related issues are captured early in the research process to ensure that the highest standards of both animal welfare and science are upheld at our institution and to keep us in compliance with both State and Federal regulations.
Required Education:
Associate's Degree or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent LATg certification required
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree In Animal Science
Required Experience:
3+ years In Laboratory animal science
Preferred Experience:
Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) certification and Experience coordinating a training program preferred
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experienced and proficient with common research procedures performed on rodents (anesthesia, injections, basic surgery, aseptic preparation, oral gavage, etc.). Strong knowledge of regulations and guidelines pertaining to the use of laboratory animals Excellent written and oral communication skills Experience providing instruction and training Computer proficiency working with software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and the Google suite Ability to function in a team-oriented environment, with individuals from diverse backgrounds who have varying degrees of scientific and veterinary knowledge or skills Ability to problem solve and generate creative solutions
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Working knowledge of all activities of an animal facility preferred
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00 to USD $140,000.00.
