The Director, Cross-Functional Special Projects role is part of the IT PMO and is responsible for successfully executing/delivering key University programs and projects in support of multi-year roadmap and strategic goals. This senior role oversees a team of Program and Project Managers and lead cross-functional project teams, across various levels of university leadership, to consistently deliver quality results. The incumbent ensures adoption of established PMO practices, and instills a culture of execution, operational excellence, and accountability. Key responsibilities include supporting the IT and PMO leadership team with long-range planning and the development of multi-year roadmaps. This position develops and documents, in partnership with the PMO leadership roadmap goals, strategic objectives, portfolio/program structure, scope and KPI's. The Director monitors and drives portfolio performance, generating reports to highlight status, risks, issues and benefits. The individual in this role is responsible for tracking and monitoring financial forecasts, managing budget to actual expenses, and budget variances. In addition, the Director provides thought leadership in resolving issues and mitigating risks to ensure that programs and projects are completed on time, within budget and to specifications. The person in this role uses best practices and standard project delivery methodology. This position involves coordinating cross-functional delivery teams and effectively managing resource plans to balance the team's workloads. This role works closely with Senior Leaders in the President's Office, Office of General Council, Provost Office and the University Administrative Areas.
