Position Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to support the NYU Division of Libraries’ reference and instructional programs by providing a variety of multidisciplinary reference and research services to library patrons in person and remotely, providing information literacy instruction, and conducting library tours. This position also participates in the Division of Libraries’ committees and working groups, assists with content development for the departmental website and online research guides, and participates in various special projects and initiatives as assigned. Evening and weekend hours may be required.


Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's Degree in Humanities or Social Sciences

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree

Required Experience:
2+ years 2 years experience with reference, information literacy instruction, or teaching, or equivalent combination.

Preferred Experience:
2 years' experience in a library setting, especially an academic and/or public services unit; familiarity with research methods in the humanities and social sciences; knowledge of online learning, tutorial, podcasting, and/or video capture software.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, research, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and patrons. Knowledge of online research resources and databases. Familiarity with standard office software and html.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.
