Position Summary

The Department Administrator will provide administrative support to the Director of Academic Operations and Administration, TMI Department Chair, and Academic Program Directors for all of the department’s B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs. The Administrator will assist in planning and executing departmental academic operations including: providing support to ensure successful implementation and delivery of the M.S. Management of Technology (MOT) Global - Shanghai program, creation and maintenance of undergraduate and graduate master course lists, maintaining department databases and forms, supervising department faculty and adjunct recruitment and contracting process, ensuring that TMI has all of the necessary resources required to fulfill its academic mission, acting as the first point of contact for all current and prospective members of the TMI community, and maintain department website and social media pages. The Administrator will also advise and make recommendations to the Director and the Chair on improvements to and possible courses of action within existing departmental policies and procedures, event planning, ad hoc reporting and organization for a departmental repository. This position is also responsible for development and implementation departmental initiatives and ad hoc special projects.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Preferred Education:
Masters Degree in Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs, or equivalent

Required Experience:
2+ years experience in higher education administration

Preferred Experience:
2+ years previous work experience in academic department management and academic operations

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member; to think creatively; and to evaluate and improve existing process and procedures. Strong and polished interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Must be able to comprehend and follow a diverse set of verbally communicated operational procedures with little guidance or training, self-manageable. Must be comfortable and professional in conducting business by telephone and in person. Position demands significant attention to detail, effective communications, team collaboration and working on weekends. The willingness to respond to the needs of students and employers in an increasingly technologically- oriented society. Strong customer service skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Well informed of best practices in alumni outreach and engagement. Familiar with social media platforms and developing/implementing social media campaigns. Understanding and experience in working with international and domestic students in higher education. Familiarity with social media platform management (Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook). Microsoft Access, Albert SIS, iBuy, AP workflow, and UDW preferred.
