Position Summary

Position is responsible for providing administrative leadership to Tandon’s Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department. Oversees administration of academics and business operations of the department, including course scheduling, budget oversight, supervise staff and adjunct and student hiring. Position supports faculty appointment processes including onboarding, tenure reviews and reappointments. Position ensures effective and efficient delivery of quality and timely services, coordinates complex administrative matters, resolves escalated issues, drives a culture of administrative excellence, and champions diversity and inclusivity throughout department.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related field

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in a related field

Required Experience:
5+ years progressive administrative experience and responsibilities (e.g., managing administrative services/processes, budgets, and staff) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience with higher education institution.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent leadership, planning, management, networking, and presentation skills. Ability to negotiate solutions to resolve problems and persuade others when some differences of opinion may exist. Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member; to think creatively; and to evaluate and improve existing processes and procedures. Must have strong and polished written and oral communication skills. The position demands significant attention to detail, effective communications, team collaboration, and occasional work on weekends. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and knowledge of other PC programs.
