Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Success, the Vice President for Recruitment, Admission and Financial aid is responsible for developing strategies that increase the global and domestic pipeline of students interested in pursuing an education at NYU in New York, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai and online. Focused on a human centered, data driven approach to strategy, this key member of the senior leadership team in Enrollment Management and at the University is responsible for all undergraduate recruitment, discounting and admission strategies for the university as well as select graduate and online recruitment and consulting. Overseeing a talented team, this position bears responsibility for access, recruitment, admission and financial aid strategies within the division. As part of a division focused on the whole student experience, this position will also work to integrate the hand off of students to the university to ensure we are optimally aligned to ensure student success.


This position will have oversight over Undergraduate Admissions and Access, Financial Aid, and Graduate and Online Consulting. This position will work closely with the Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communication to ensure clarity on how we tell the story of NYU to prospective students and families, paying particular attention to the specific market position and competitive landscape that schools within the university face. A focus on training, coaching and creating an innovative and nimble work environment are essential for success. Finding ways to partner with schools and ensure the team is representing the assets and opportunities that each school offers within the context of a highly successful global university are essential elements of the position.


Working collaboratively with other senior leaders at the university and the SVP to develop KPI’s that reflect shared goals and help give direction to staff are critical for this role. The VP will also focus on process improvements in all offices, understanding the needs of offices that serve high volume that also need a human touch. Strong operational support and an understanding of the elements of process improvements that need to be prioritized to ensure a student and family centered approach is critical. Compliance and ensuring a high level of scrutiny and attention is placed on all Title IV regulations and an ethical admission process are another critical area of oversight for this role.

Required Education:
Master's Degree in Student Services, Counseling, Behavioral, Social Science, Education, or a closely related field.

Preferred Education:
Doctoral Degree in Economics, Organizational Behavior, Behavioral, Social Science, Education or a closely related field.

Required Experience:
15+ years Terminal degree or Master’s degree in Higher Education, Business, Law, Communication, K-12 Education or another related field and 15+ years of professional experience working with diverse populations, developing successful recruitment initiatives, mentoring and/or community stakeholders is required. Candidate must have excellent administrative and organizational skills; excellent data-gathering, management, analysis and reporting skills; supervisory experience; and excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience must also include at least 10 years of related experience developing organizational strategy for undergraduate and graduate student recruitment and financial aid units that directly impacts decision-making at the senior executive level.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Energetic leader with outstanding written, oral, and interpersonal skills, with a broad knowledge of higher education leadership, access, recruitment and yield outcomes, budgeting, operational planning, program planning and development, and human resource management. This person must be able to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including deans, faculty, external organizations and high school and college counselors as well as other key administrators to inspire people to action. The candidate must have outstanding interpersonal and analytical skills and a familiarity of undergraduate, graduate and online education pipelines that enhance the development of a strategic plan, report to state agencies and new enrollment and net revenue goals.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Must be well versed in Financial Aid and Title IV policies and compliance, understand diverse recruitment strategies, have experience with global recruitment, and a track record of data and analytic approach to recruitment strategies and outcomes.
