Position Summary

Arts and Science is seeking a talented Administrative Aide II (full-time, 9 month role) to join Silsila: Center for Material Histories. This individual will perform a wide range of clerical, secretarial and general office duties including those of a confidential nature. Respond to inquiries displaying a comprehensive knowledge of the Center's activities, policies and programs. Interact with scholarly communities and the general public as NYU liaison and with University personnel including those at the senior level to resolve issues and problems. Arrange travel and transport for visiting scholars and speakers. Perform general word processing duties utilizing intermediate to advanced-level functions. Modify and/or create databases and complex spreadsheets. Maintain website and distribute weekly announcements about events to the mailing list and University community. Monitor complex department budgets and/or grants.

 

Please note, this position reports 9 months per calendar year. Non-working months will be June, July, and August.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's degree.

Required Experience:
3 years of office experience. Experience providing a high level of customer service.

Preferred Experience:
2 years of office experience (with Associate's degree). 1 year of office experience (with Bachelor's degree).

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Good proofreading and writing skills.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Proficiency with intermediate to advanced word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.Moderate to fast, accurate keyboarding. Good proofreading and writing skills. Proficiency with intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office or proficiency with Apple. Knowledge of desktop publishing software. Knowledge of Access.
