Organize and implement programs and initiatives to support NYU’s sustainability and social justice goals. Areas of focus include but are not limited to greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, waste, purchasing, construction and renovation, food, and transportation. Manage and facilitate projects as directed to meet unit goals, targets, and metrics and in accordance with departmental priorities and budgets. Compile data and perform reporting as needed to support project work. Assist with special projects and events. Collaborate constructively with other NYU stakeholders, and communicate clearly about NYU sustainability with members of the NYU community and the public. Direct student employees and/or volunteers as required.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related area
Required Experience: 2+ years administering sustainability programs, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience: 1+ years Prior experience administering sustainability initiatives in a fast-paced environment balancing many projects with multiple stakeholders.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Confident organizational and project coordination skills including time management. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation delivery skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and sustain effective relationships in support of organizational goals. Familiarity with common sustainability issues, areas of focus, terminology, and initiatives. Proficiency with standard office productivity software including basic data manipulation and analysis.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated effective project management and/or event management. Knowledge of data collection, reporting techniques and strategies. Deeper knowledge of one or more specific areas of focus within sustainability. Ability to write clear and cogent reports and plans. Database analysis and modeling.
